Mommy & Me (1 1/2 -3 1/2 years old) One (1) adult per tot. Moms (Dads, Grandparents) have fun with your toddler! Learn to work with your child to help develop her or his coordination and agility. This class is an introduction to dance with emphasis on gross motor skills. A special 1/2 hour class mixes little bits of ballet, tumbling and creative movement through the use of stories, songs, interactive games and movement. Mom, Dad or Grandparent assists child through exercises and has as much fun as she or he will. Wear comfortable clothes!
Creative Movement (4 years old) Creative Movement, self -expression and imagination make this a wonderful introduction to the world of dance. Here we will start to use "props" for coordination and creativity skills. This class helps with motor skills while learning basics of dance. Ballet shoes are needed. Students perform 2 numbers at recital.
Kinde Combo (5 year olds and beginning 6 year olds) This class will begin with a short ballet warm-up and continue in the center and across the floor. The second part of class will be tap. Rhythm instruments will be added to aid in this class. Ballet and tap shoes are needed.
Ballet/TapJazz Classes (6-7) Beginning ballet will start to learn ballet terminology and focus more on technique. This class begins with 20 minutes of ballet followed by 20 minutes of tap dancing. A third dance discipline taught during the last 20 minutes is jazz. The last 8 lessons will concentrate on preparing for the two recital routines: a ballet dance and a tap dance. Ballet and tap shoes will be needed in this class.
Ballet (8 and older) Youth are now ready for a more structured ballet class. They will have extended time on the barre, continue in the center and across the room. This class will emphasize the basic fundamentals which are necessary for all forms of dance. Body placement, flexibility, alignment, strength and technique are achieved through barre, center and across the room.
Clogging (Available through "Just For Kicks", CRAF Center)
Hip Hop Hip Hop is a dance without any limitations to positions and is an expression of how the dancer feels. It is a less structured dance, letting the student give it their personal hip-hop style. Class starts out with warm-ups and strength and conditioning exercises which are key to a good performance. It continues with combinations that will be taught step by step and repeated allowing students to follow along. Students need to wear comfortable clothing such as jogging pants.
Jazz (9 and older) This class starts with warm-ups, isolations and body strengthening exercises and continue to center and across the room Strong technique is needed in jazz and we will focus on this. As students progress, they will learn different forms of Jazz; Broadway, Latin, Lyrical and the great Classic Jazz.
Pointe (must have instructor approval) When a dancer becomes physically and mentally strong, she is eligible for Pointe work. The student must be muscularly developed enough to handle the control needed in Pointe. Students must be advanced ballet students to be considered for this class.
